Arne Slot Asserts He Feels Secure and Has The Club's Backing After PSV Humiliation

Arne Slot conceded that it was natural for questions to be raised about his position following another convincing loss against the Dutch champions.

Liverpool suffered their ninth defeat in 12 matches, marking the club's worst streak since being demoted in the 1953-54 season.

They were dominated by the Dutch league champions on a difficult night at Anfield.

“I am feeling safe, things are alright, I've received plenty of support from the top,” Slot commented.

“It would be great to reverse this trend and get a victory naturally but when you're working as a coach and underperforming then it's expected that doubts arise.”

He noted, “I accept my role. It is not the first time I’ve been in a tough spot but it's necessary that we improved our results.”

Talks with The Board

When asked to expand on his discussions with the team officials, the head coach said:

“We talk a lot. They assist to the team and to me and those talks happen but they don’t call me all the time each day to say they trust me.”

He added, “During our regular conversations we have I perceive the belief. However I haven’t spoken to them since this defeat so far so we'll see.”

Familiar Failings and Squad Reaction

Slot lamented recurring weaknesses from his Liverpool side in their Champions League loss, namely wasted chances and defensive lapses.

Meanwhile, player Jones was blunter in his assessment of the club’s predicament.

“I don’t have the answers. Truthfully, I don’t. I’m saying that to all,” Jones said.

“It’s just not good enough. I don't need to wait to reflect. I’m past being angry internally. I’m at the point currently where I just don’t have the vocabulary.”

He continued, “It's tough because I’m playing for the team I support. I'm a supporter, and I've watched Liverpool since I was young.”

“In recent memory, I haven’t experienced a Reds side experiencing a period such as this with performances like these.”

Jones concluded, “But we still have the crest on our shirts. And as long as it is removed, we’re always going to fight.”

“Our aim is to get this team return to where it needs to be, prove again what Liverpool stands for and the reason it's called the greatest side in the planet.”

“But right now, we’re in the shit and it must improve.”
