Esteemed Star Pat Finn, Famed For Appearances in The Middle and Friends, Dies at the Age of Sixty.

US performer Pat Finn, who was seen in popular programs including Friends, "Seinfeld" and The Middle, has succumbed at the age of 60.

The comedic improv actor passed away at his residence in Los Angeles, California recently following cancer treatment since 2022, per news outlets.

"Pat considered no one a stranger - solely future friends he had yet to meet," his relatives said in a message.

They added that he had "embraced life completely - with joy and exuberance".

A Prolific Career on Screen

His initial on-screen part was in the George Wendt Show in 1995, where he portrayed the brother of the main character.

He also had a recurring role on Murphy Brown from 1995 to 1997.

He starred as a party host named Joe Mayo in Seinfeld in 1998, depicting a social organizer known to delegate unpleasant chores to his guests.

Throughout the late 1990s and early 2000s, he had guest spots on numerous hit series, such as:

  • The King of Queens
  • Friends
  • That '70s Show
  • "House"

His most famous role for portraying Bill Norwood in "The Middle", starring in eight seasons of the show over nearly a decade.

His cinematic roles are "It's Complicated" and Santa Paws 2: The Santa Pups.

A Life in Improv

Away from his acting parts, Finn was an improv performer and worked as a teacher at the Colorado university, where he was an adjunct professor.

He was part of a six-member improv team named "Beer Shark Mice".

"Finn guided, supported, and advised numerous pupils throughout the years and it would be difficult to find a person who has a bad thing to say about him," his relatives stated.

Paying homage, fellow actor Richard Kind said there was "no kinder, gentler, funnier, authentic human being you could encounter".

"Consistently upbeat, helping you be funnier and better. A great dad, a great guy," he posted publicly.

Pat Finn is leaves behind his spouse Donna, three children, and his parents and siblings.
