Ex- Physician Accused of Sexual Assault Charges Involving Thirty-Eight Patients
Prosecutors have stated that a former doctor now faces charges for committing assaults involving 38 individuals who were under his care.
Details of the Serious Charges
Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham faces allegations of numerous acts of sexual assault – comprising acts against children younger than 13 – between 2017 and 2021.
One deputy chief prosecutor stated, “Legal teams have worked at length to assist a thorough and intricate police inquiry, meticulously examining the available evidence to determine that there is sufficient evidence to bring the case to trial and that it is in the interest of justice.”
The Investigation
These allegations come after what police called a “complex investigation” into reported sexual offences at medical facilities: a hospital in Stoke-on-Trent and Russells Hall hospital.
Spencer is scheduled to appear at the North Staffordshire justice centre on 20 January.
Breakdown of Offences
Prosecutors said the forty-five charges comprise:
- 15 counts of assault.
- 17 counts of penetrative assault.
- 9 counts of sexual assault of a child under 13.
- 3 counts of assault of a child under 13 by penetration.
- One count of attempting to assault by penetration.
