The distinguished British actress Mirren, previously holder of an Oscar statuette, multiple Bafta awards, Globes trophies, five Emmys, plus a Tony, is poised to receive another major award to her collection: the Cecil B DeMille Globes' career honor.

Honors Presentation

The actress, eighty, previously made a dame in 2003 and honored as a BAFTA fellow in the year 2014, will pick up this honor at an event January 8, just prior to the Golden Globes main event take place, during a ceremony promoted by the Globes as the “Golden Eve”.

Also part of the event will be the presentation of the Golden Globes’ Carol Burnett honor for small-screen contributions, whose winner remains unannounced. The prior year’s honorees included Viola Davis and Ted Danson.

“Mirren stands as an unstoppable talent, with a career is nothing short of exceptional,” remarked the organization’s president, Helen Hoehne. “Her transcendent performances and devotion to her art continue to inspire generations of artists and viewers as well. We are deeply honored to bestow upon her this lifetime achievement honor.”

Career Highlights

Helen Mirren gained prominence in the 1970s via important performances on stage in the West End of London and through the Royal Shakespeare Company and in cinematic works including O Lucky Man!, Caligula and The Long Good Friday.

During the nineties, her prominent part in the investigative show Prime Suspect increased her popularity significantly. Other key films include Excalibur, The Madness of King George, The Cook, the Thief, His Wife and Her Lover, Gosford Park & Calendar Girls.

She received an Oscar for her performance as Queen Elizabeth II in the 2006 movie The Queen, a role she revisited during 2013 within The Audience, the stage production by Peter Morgan concerning the sessions between the queen and premier Thatcher, a role for which she earned a Tony back in 2015.

Current and Forthcoming Appearances

• Subsequent cinematic works feature Hitchcock, The Last Station, Woman in Gold, The Debt, Golda and Barbie, for which she provided narration.
• Her role in the Netflix version of The Thursday Murder Club has also been praised and honors speculation is growing regarding her role as a terminally ill matriarch in Winslet’s directorial debut, Goodbye June.
• Next year, Mirren will be seen in the role of Patricia Highsmith in Anton Corbijn’s drama, Switzerland.

Golden Globe nods will be announced December 8, including Anderson’s One Battle After Another, the movie from Chloé Zhao Hamnet and Ryan Coogler’s Sinners expected to feature heavily.
