The group had their travel arrangements and match passes secured for the fourth and fifth Tests "well ahead of time", hoping to witness a rare England series success.

Sadly, they've observed Australia outplay the visitors in just a short period from their family home in the north of England.

"People in the office has been teasing me about it being over for the last two weeks," said Sam.

"Our expectation had been that we would have the series on the line upon our arrival."

Yet now they are staring down the barrel of extending their winless run in the country to 19 consecutive Tests when the Boxing Day Test begins in the MCG on Christmas Day.

The tourists - and their followers - will be desperate to avoid a dreaded 5-0 scoreline.

One sibling noted the "entertainment" of head coach the positive style of play in recent years had "renewed interest in" Test cricket for English supporters.

However, the group said they had low expectations for the fourth and fifth Tests - and all they are requesting from the players is "some resilience".

Future Prospects

Prompted about he believed England will triumph in a Test in this contest, came the reply: "It looks like the hosts are a stronger side currently."

"There is going to have to be more than one player that delivers for the team and makes a big impact."

Regardless of the result, the fans are excited about the trip.

"We are going to have a fantastic experience anyway," commented Katie Ryding. "We must adopt that outlook."

"Obviously it is a let-down we don't have more to play for, but we have made a substantial financial commitment as it is."

"We plan to savor spending the festive season out there. This will be mine and Rory's first time abroad at this time of year."

An educator, Katie is focused on enjoying the long-haul travel as part of her Christmas holidays.

"If all else fails, I've got golf to fall back on," she finished.
