It's difficult for the Australian squad to set fresh records.

The greatest achievements have already been conquered.

This is the squad that has won seven Cricket World Cups, along with an additional six T20 titles, and earlier maintained 1,294 days without defeat in 50-over cricket.

The alternative records, those for the record chasers, are the only things left for a team that has achieved everything.

That it took until Sunday's three-wicket win over India for them to complete their first ODI chase exceeding 300, regaining their record for the largest in women's cricket's 50-over format, is, in truth, a compliment to the pitchers that have worn canary yellow over five decades.

It is hard for their batsmen to hold a record if not afforded the chance.

Finally, the consequence of Australia conceding 330 was leader Alyssa Healy being given an opportunity to create her newest gem.

Initially recognized as the 19-year-old niece of famous ex Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she first played in 2010 after her country failed to win either of the 20 or 50-over World Cups from the prior year and has experienced everything through 15 trophy-laden years since.

Success in the T20 World Cup happened three months after her first appearance and seven world titles have come from 10 efforts across formats.

The determined wicketkeeper was present as well in Derby in 2017 when a semi-final defeat by India briefly halted the run of success.

That loss "pushed us to reevaluate our levels," Healy stated recently.

At the following one-day championship in New Zealand, Healy scored 170 against England in the championship match and was declared player of the series. She guaranteed her country would not come up short.

The question of whether this recent magnificent innings topped that previous effort is debatable.

Certain people claim the case for the pressure of a final. Some might respond with the test that comes when facing a record target and a raucous India-supporting crowd of 20,000.

What's clear is this hundred was far harder to anticipate.

The New Zealand onslaught in 2022 happened while she was the highest scorer, but this knock was preceded by six games in India from the beginning of the previous month in which she had been unable to reach 30.

"For those following me in practice sessions, it's been a frustrating experience because it appeared my form was missing whatsoever," stated Healy.

"However when you enter the playing area, your fighting spirit kick in and you simply focus on the match."

Healy's competitiveness has consistently been her key asset - and an invaluable trait in taking over from famous previous leader Meg Lanning.

She was tormented by India's rising star Kranti Gaud in recent ODI series, out to the emerging pace bowler in each encounter, but here that only provided Healy's inspiration.

A single was taken off Gaud's first delivery and from there Healy was on her way.

"The possibility to play and lock in a contest with her and merely enjoy the moment in that regard, sort of got me going," stated Healy.

She achieved fifty in 35 pitches - her quickest at the global tournament - and her hundred in 84 as she attacked short-pitched balls, scoring 21 fours and three sixes.

When she was dismissed her side needed 66 additional runs at a run-a-ball - a manageable total now requiring a leisurely stroll.

"Pursuing 330 is uncharted waters so I am glad we have the confidence to do that now," stated Healy further.

"Ideally we won't need to repeat it but, if necessary, we are confident we can succeed."

That comment will be the final thing competing nations at this World Cup want to hear.

During the last week a feeling they will win from any position has only strengthened - this triumph coming after victory over Pakistan by 107-run victory despite struggling at 76-7 at one point.

Next Australia play Bangladesh before a meeting with longtime competitors England in Indore in ten days, by which point a last-four spot may probably be guaranteed.

It was in the semi-finals they were eliminated from last year's T20 World Cup in a surprising setback by South Africa - a game Healy missed because of torn tissue in her foot as she guided Australia for the first time at an important competition.

So great is her will, she subsequently stated she wanted to have participated despite the injury.

But while she subsequently acknowledged those fitness problems have delayed thoughts of retirement, this tournament is likely to be her last as captain in 50-over cricket and she is yet to win an international tournament as skipper.

Triumph in India would lead her to the peak of her last major obstacle.
