Three-time NBA MVP Jokic endured a "devastating" injury to his knee while the Denver Nuggets fell by a score of 147-123 to the Miami Heat.

The star player injured himself late in the first half following an unintentional contact with team-mate Jones.

His teammate came down on the foot of the MVP, and he immediately went down to the court grabbing his leg.

The 30-year-old, that tops the NBA this season in rebounds and assists, had a score of 21 points and eight dimes in the contest before sustaining the setback.

Jokic is scheduled for an scan on Tuesday to determine the extent of the injury.

"Immediately, he knew he was hurt," said Nuggets coach Adelman.

"Injuries are part of the game. Whoever who is injured, it's gut-wrenching, especially a player as important as he is. We will know more on Tuesday."

"The team will adjust together. Clearly, right now, I am focused just about Jokic as a person and the disappointment of experiencing something like that."
